I really believe that when it comes to childcare, there are so many different and important parts that make it successful. Its like one complex, beautiful puzzle, and when all the pieces fit together its amazing to look at. It might be frustrating trying to put things together, and sometimes you realize that you have tried to make something or someone fit where it doesn’t work, and you have to start all over from scratch.
Some of the pieces are obvious, like great children and great families. I am so lucky here, because our center has a community of loving, caring families who are willing to work with us on a daily basis to make sure that we are able to provide unique care for each child. I need to have amazing staff who go the extra mile. To be honest, I am thankful for our staff every day and I recognize that without them, this center would be a LONG way from where we are right now. I am so lucky to have the staff we do, and each one of them brings an individual piece that fits in seamlessly with the next. I also need to have a safe and welcoming environment, and I am so blessed to have a daycare that has been around for so long, and that there were founding members who worked hard to build a strong base for our center. Here we can continually improve on this without worrying about where we are going to house all of our people, big and small.
Sometimes, though, it’s like you turn a piece over to see where it will fit and it surprises you how much it adds to the overall picture. What looked like a boring brown piece of cardboard becomes the piece that unexpectedly connects multiple areas of the puzzle. This week, our center is so fortunate to join in with COBS Bread in Regina as a part of their “End of Day Giving” Program. One of our newest staff members brought it to my attention and we applied to be a part of it.
COBS is an amazing bakery, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, you definitely should. I have been a customer there since they opened in Regina and will continue to be for as long as they are here! They have two locations, one in Grasslands/Harbour Landing, and one located on Rochdale Blvd. by WalMart. COBS donates the bread that they have left over at the end of the day to different non-profit organizations at no cost. I appreciate this program on so many levels. I respect that they choose not to waste leftover items, and that they show care and compassion for so many other organizations in Regina. I consider our center so lucky and am incredibly thankful for this new opportunity! COBS is a nut free facility and I will still be able to make sure that all allergies in our center and cared for as well. I would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to Rick, Julia, and the whole COBS team. Please check them out and support them as they are supporting the healthy growth and development of your children!
Our puzzle seems to keep expanding and growing, and even though it never has nice, neat, straight edges, it is definitely colorful, fun, and exciting… and also occasionally a little messy. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us here at Normanview and I hope that you are as excited to find out as I am.
