We hope that these photos and profiles help you get to know us a little bit better! We asked our staff what made them want to work in Early Learning and Childcare, what their favorite thing about Prairie Lily is, and what they hope the children here remember as they grow up. We all are very passionate about what we do and are looking forward to getting to know each of our families better throughout the years they are here!
Karen Mills – Assistant Director
Karen works with us at Prairie Lily as the Assistant Director for our Normanview locations. She wanted to work in Early Learning because she can be a part of the “bigger picture” in children’s lives. She wants to help each one of the children who have been in her care to find their place in this world and to help shape the future generation in a positive and compassionate way.
Her favorite thing about being at Prairie Lily is being a part of an excellent team. She believes that we have a team that celebrates each other’s abilities, talents, experiences and cultural backgrounds. We have a common purpose, which allows us to share who we are with the children to enable them to grow and develop.
Karen would like for the families, staff, and children to remember that she saw creativity in each of them, that they are all so important, and that she learned a lot from them.
Cara Steiner – Executive Director
Cara originally wanted to work in Early Learning because she has always loved being around children. She believes that they teach us things every day about what it means to go through life and feel enjoyment each day. They are also genuinely very funny and help her remember to laugh as much as possible. As she has spend more time in this field and in her role as our Director, she has grown to be an advocate for this profession and wants to teach others about what we do, why we do it, and why it is so important! Cara considers it a privilege to be the leader of our talented team of Educators and caring families.
Her favorite thing about Prairie Lily is that this Centre feels like family. She enjoys our families, children and Educators so much. This is a group of people who care for and support each other, while sharing a common purpose and vision for our Centre. There have been ups and downs, like in any family, but they are always dealt with in a way that has allowed her to change and grow as a person and as an Early Childhood Educator.
Cara hopes that the children who have been here at the same time as her grow up knowing that they were LOVED. She wants each child to know that she celebrated their unique personalities and abilities, and hopes that they stay that way as long as they possibly can. She hopes that they grow up to be caring human beings, who consider the people around them, while being secure and confident in who they are. She hopes that each child finds their own success in life and remember that they can always come back to Prairie Lily for a visit at anytime!
Tetyana wanted to come work in daycare as she loves cooking and she also loves children! She loves seeing the children eat the food that she has prepared and enjoy it. She cooks all kinds of wonderful food for us, and has given us all opportunities to try foods that we haven’t before.

Tetyana is very passionate about the children eating homemade food, and loves that she can provide that for them. She knows that homemade food is the healthiest option and is glad she can help them grow in these important years eating high quality meals and snacks.
She hopes that the children remember her as a kind cook, who they can look to as a friend, and remember that they loved her meals. She wants the children to think of our Centre as a second home where they had lots of fun and created great memories.

Michelle loves that in Early Childhood Education, no single day is the same! The children that she has been fortunate enough to work with have motivated her to be a better person, and she has been able to learn from them while being lucky enough to teach them. It is a very rewarding job for her that brings out her inner child. Michelle is a self proclaimed Toddler in an Adult body who needs naps and treats to keep her happy. 🙂
Although she is new to Prairie Lily and only joined us in Fall of 2018, her favorite thing is the way that she has been able to build individual bonds with each of the children. For her, nothing beats walking into work and seeing the children smile and hear them yell her name!

Her favorite thing about Prairie Lily is how family oriented and personal the Centre is. The families in her groups have been so great at getting to know her too, and making her feel that they care about the person who is caring for their children.
